ABOUT ME
let me take you on a trip
I come from a small town of 10 000 citizens and spent the past 8 years in a city of 2m people. My best friends work in pretty different fields than fashion and arts. I think that images in Peter Greenaway's films are simply brilliant, but I idealize the coastal grandmother style in Nancy Meyer's dreams, just as much as I'm amazed by the romanticized lifestyle of the maffia in the Godfather.
Regarding the fashion and art scene, what I learned from my favourite artists is that if I want to make a good job, I need to learn of the past, observe the present and be excited about the future. I need to watch movies and images and great art, I need to listen to music. I need to read. And I need to talk to and listen to people.
I need to find these small dots and connect them. So, that eventually I can reflect and react either with words or images. But in a way, that is lasting and useful. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. But the important thing is to learn and do.
PHILOSOPHY
During the years I realized that the most fruitful collaborations happen between people who work by similar values and work ethics.
In my projects I like to work by the following keywords:
VINTAGE / SECOND-HAND I am a great lover of objects that were made in the past and I think that mixing new innovations with already made treasures gives really unique results. Therefore I always look for places where I can find exciting pieces and I'm glad if I can use them in my work. Just as I do in my private life - both in my wardrobe and in my home.
DESIGNER The newest innovations - or the ones that reflect on the current state of our everyday lives - come from those creative minds who spend their days and nights experimenting with fabrics, shapes and technics. During the years I gained a wider knowledge of local and international artists and (esp. fashion) designers. It makes me happy, too, if I can show their work pieces to others, as well.
INTERDISCIPLINARITY / CONNECTIONS / COLLABORATIONS One of my most important lessons is that I realized and believe that teamwork leads to the biggest success. Teamwork means to me: working with like-minded people even if they work in different fields. That's how the magic happens.
MAKE, DO AND MEND My grandparents were working for decades as a tailor and a shoemaker. My grandmother has been growing vegetables in our backyard since I've known her. What I learned from them is that the value of handmade pieces and even food is totally different from the ones that you can buy in the store. Or even if you buy some things, you can take care of them or repair them, but throwing away and hoarding are the last possible options if it comes to things that we put in or on our bodies.
EDUCATION
I got my BA degree at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, where I studied art history. I continued my MA studies in art and design management at Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. Besides these, I found it particularly significant to do interships and study from professionals whose work I found inspiring.
This way I spent time working for fashion designers, designer stores and design magazines. I made sure to choose mentors, not bosses and workplaces. Out of all these precious experiences, the most impactful and memorable were those 3 years I spent as an assistant stylist to Bognár Hajnalka, stylist and fashion designer, who didn't just teach me the basics of this profession, but set an example with her attitude, persistency and impeccable taste.
